Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals will be accompanied by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive at the time of booking confirmation or upon collection of the vehicle. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Formby, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type. A valid driving licence, applicable to the vehicle category, is required, along with identification and proof of your current address. Valid payment information and a security deposit are also necessary, as well as any other conditions outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or in person at our Formby location. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and a security deposit are generally required upon vehicle pick-up. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT when applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection in Formby, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage right away. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed to document its state. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as it was collected, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and additional charges will apply as necessary. Please ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as received; refueling fees will be incurred if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may result in extra charges, so please notify us promptly if you expect a delay. Insurance and Liability Terms

You may have the option to purchase additional insurance to lower your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options closely. You are liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless additional coverage is secured. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violations of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Late cancellations or failure to show may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited uses of the rental vehicle:
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities, including racing, off-roading, or other reckless driving behaviors. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Additionally, the vehicle should not be used beyond its intended purpose, exceed passenger or weight limits, or be driven outside agreed geographical boundaries without prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
8. Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Formby will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the last 12 months. This exclusion does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be addressed exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect as soon as they are posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
